Cultural diplomacy of Japan as a tool of «soft power» in SouthEast Asia.

Abstract

The qualification work researches Japanese cultural diplomacy in Southeast Asia. The author analyzed tools and mechanisms of "soft power". Educational exchanges, cultural festivals, social networks and media were among the most effective tools of Japanese cultural diplomacy in the region. The study identified issues that Japan may face in order to promote its cultural diplomacy. The author suggests three options for Japan's policy in the field of cultural diplomacy for Southeast Asia.
