Abstract

The work analyzes the Ukrainian identity of the artist Kazimir Malevich, his life and work. The views of modern Ukrainian and foreign researchers on the work and life of K. Malevich and his involvement in the Ukrainian avant-garde and part of Ukrainian art are highlighted. Based on the analysis of scientific literature and sources, it was determined that the formation of the artist appeared in Ukraine, his work is filled with elements of Ukrainian folk art, and K. Malevich himself called himself a Ukrainian. In the study of the described attempts to appropriate the name of the famous avant-garde from the Russian side and the successful experience of counteracting the cultural aggression of Ukrainian specialists.
