Cognitive and conceptual aspects of the irreal fairy-tale space by means of differently structured languages (based on the descriptive material of the English, German, and Ukrainian languages).

Abstract

The Master’s research paper is devoted to the study of conceptualization of space in the fairy tales on the level of nouns, structural meaning lacunae in verbs, prepositions, and adverbs.
The empirical material of the study contains lexical units from the folklore fairy tales in the three afore-mentioned languages. The sample size comprises 711 lexical units.
Meaning lacunae were noticed on all the considered levels. From the point of view of nouns, numerous life realities of the different nations were conceptualized. Various structures were taken under consideration in the other studied parts of speech: adverbs, verbs, and prepositions, depending on a language system different syntactical positions of lexical units were revealed.
