The master's research paper is devoted to the study of evaluative metaphorical denotations of human character features at the level of their structure, function and semantics, from a psychological point of view, as well as to the gender stereotypes and their manifestation at the level of metaphor.
The research material contains German and Ukrainian metaphorical denotations. The sample size comprises 616 lexical units.
The list of types of metaphors classified by lexical-semantic, functional and structural characteristics is provided. Attention is focused on the evaluative metaphor. The statistical data of the lexical material classified into thematic blocks are given.
It was discovered by analyzing the metaphorical denotations that they can have a positive, negative connotation and a mixed type, which included those lexical units whose connotation is difficult to determine without context.
The concept of stereotype, its influence on the speech behavior of the individual, on the idea of male and female character traits is revealed. A list of qualities inherent in men and women, as well as examples of metaphorical evaluations is presented. Human sex is characterized as one of the main characteristics of the individual, considered in society, culture and language.
