Peculiarities of German Compounds in Computer Terminology and Their Translation into Ukrainian.

Abstract

The Master’s research paper is devoted to the studyof german compound nouns in the field of computer terminology, das Quellprogramm source program; program in the input language ’.
The structural and semantic features of german compound nouns to denote computer terms, as well as the features of their translation into Ukrainian are identified and analyzed. Two-component and three-component determinative composites predominate among the analyzed terminological units, but two-component and three-component copulative composites also occur. The analyzed units were formed both by compiling german nouns or nounswith other parts of speech (adjectives, verbs) and by using borrowings, in particular abbreviations. The analyzed terms can mean: internal processes of the computer, intangible components of calculations, details of the computer.
Translation of computer terms, without penetrating into their essence, without knowledge of the phenomena, processes and mechanisms can lead to gross errors in translation. The main ways of reproducing computer terminology in Ukrainian are: transcoding; tracing; descriptive translation; equivalent translation.
