Abstract

The master's thesis is devoted to the study of lexical and grammatical translation transformations that were applied in the translation of the film text, based on the novel and in the translation of the literary text of the novel “Murder on the Orient Express”. The research material contains 528 English sentences with their translation equivalents.
In the course of the study, a comparative analysis of the means of translating a film text and a fiction novel was was performed. Lexical and grammatical translation transformations were identified and analyzed. Transformations were divided into groups, which based on the changes in the semantics and structure of the translation sentence that transformations lead to. The analysis of the studied translations showed that lexical transformations in the translation of film text and literary text are used most often, particularly omission and lexical substitution. The most commonly used grammatical transformation of the studied translation was a change in the type of sentence and a change in parts of speech in another sentence. During the comparative analysis, we identified both similarities and differences in the translation of the literary text and the film text, which are related to the extralinguistic factors of the film text.
